Barbara Babin

Former UAM Chancellor Claude Babin lost his wife, Barbara, Dec. 6, 2006.

Babin served the campus as President of Arkansas A & M from 1962 to 1971 and then as University of Arkansas at Monticello Chancellor from 1971 to 1977.

Babin served many more years as professor of history, ultimately serving 38 years at UAM. Mrs. Babin graciously assisted him in his successful career. The university sent a memorial gift on behalf of the faculty, staff and students.

Ernestine Coker

Professor Emeritus Jesse M. Coker lost his wife, Ernestine, Thursday, Jan. 18.

Coker served the University of Arkansas at Monticello for 24 years from 1965 through 1989.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at the Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon, Jan. 21, from 2-4 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home.

The university will make a memorial gift to the Coker Scholarship fund on behalf of the faculty, staff and students. The family requested other memorial gifts be made to the First United Methodist Church in Rogers, the American Heart Association or the UAM Foundation.

Yolanda Dykes

Coach Donald Dykes lost his wife, Yolanda, during the Christmas holidays. The funeral service was held on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006, in Baton Rouge, La. The university sent a memorial gift on behalf of the faculty, staff and students.

Parnell brothers

Raymond Parnell, Grounds Maintenance employee, lost two brothers. Tommy Parnell passed away Monday, Jan. 1, and Bobby Parnell passed away Wednesday, Jan. 3. The university sent memorial gifts on behalf of the faculty, staff and students.

Wayne Puckett

Professor Emeritus Wayne Puckett died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006.

He served UAM 17 years during the time period 1966 through 1983. The university sent a memorial gift on behalf of the faculty, staff and students.

Godfrey Sawyer

Kay Crook, employee in the Library, lost her father, Godfrey Sawyer, on Jan. 1. The university sent a memorial gift on behalf of the faculty, staff and students.

Wanda Sivils

Bookstore employee Judy Howard lost her step-mom, Wanda Sivils, on Dec. 21, 2006. The university sent a memorial gift on behalf of the faculty, staff and students.

Herbert J. Spratt

Herbert J. Spratt died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006. He attended the UAM College of Technology-McGehee, Arkansas Heavy Equipment Training Academy at SEACBEC. The university sent a memorial gift on behalf of the faculty, staff and students.
