The National Fast-Pitch Coaches Association has recognized the University of Arkansas at Monticello Cotton Blossoms softball team for earning the 26th-highest grade point average in all of NCAA Division II with a 3.273 GPA for the 2005-06 academic year.

The Blossoms were the highest Gulf South Conference team listed in the report; with Valdosta State (29th) and Delta State (54th) the only other GSC teams receiving recognition.

“Academic success has always been as much of a priority as athletic success in our program,” said Cotton Blossoms head coach Alvy Early. “I know how hard our team worked in both areas over the last year and the players we have been able to bring in epitomize what we’re looking for in a student-athlete.”
