Media Services The UAM College of Technology-Crossett will offer a welding program beginning this fall, according to Linda Rushing, vice chancellor of the Crossett campus. The one-year technical certificate program may be applied toward the associate of applied science degree in general technology. The UAM COT-Crossett offered a full-time welding program prior to 1991 but discontinued the program due to low enrollment and lack of jobs in the area. The program was reintroduced to meet the growing demand for welders. "The increased demand for certified welders has generated a need to offer more in-depth training to develop the advanced welding skills necessary for certification in multiple areas," said Rushing. "A one-year technical certificate welding program will provide students an avenue to develop skills and earn certifications that will increase their job opportunities and wage earnings."
