Mocha Madness a Hit

Maria McGeehan
Staff Writer

The Creative Artists Society sponsored Mocha Madness at the Patio Café of the University of Arkansas at Monticello on Thursday, Nov. 10. This has been a traditional event for 10 years on campus.

This was a night for all students and faculty to display their creative venues. There were poetry readings, a live band performance, a pianist, a fashion show and art displays, not to mention, free beautiful clay prizes, a vast assortment of cookies, fudge and five flavors of coffee.

People laughed, pondered and even colored on the tables. Each artist brought a different array of work, which made it a success. There were scheduled entertainers, and an open microphone for those who felt inspired to come up at the last minute. One gentleman was so caught up in the mood that he felt it was a perfect time to propose to his girlfriend.

Jennifer Neubauer, a major factor to the success of this event, said, “It was a really good turn out. The whole café was packed. I really enjoyed it. My favorite part was the poetry readings because I was able to sit down, listen, snap my fingers and clap.”

This could not have taken place without the help of Robin Barker and the Student Activities Board's funding.
