LifeShare Blood Centers hosted a blood drive in the Gibson University Center Nov. 9. Students were encouraged by Kristy Statham, a representative for LifeShare, to give blood. Statham commented on student participation saying, “Students have been very supportive. Blood is needed because the center in Lake Charles and Beamount were wiped out due to Hurricane Katrina. These two centers made up a third of our blood supply.” If students participated, they received a free T-shirt and all of the snacks and beverages they could ingest. Afterwards, the participants were give informative brochures detailing how they should take care of themselves following their donations.
