Alpha Chi, the University of Arkansas at Monticello's campus-wide honor society, recognized the best and the brightest at the Fine Arts Center Nov. 8, at its fall initiation ceremony. To qualify for Alpha Chi, students must maintain a 3.6 GPA or higher, complete at least 62 hours of course work and be in the top 10 percent of the junior and senior class. “Alpha Chi promotes academic excellence on campus” said honor sponsor Kate Stewart, a professor of English. This year’s inductees came from a variety of majors. Inductees include computer information systems: Samantha Leigh Bunting, Erin Beth Cracolici, Trey Dunlap, Jessica Jarvis, John Justin Jenkins and Josh Allen Tooke; English, Rhiannon L. Cabaniss, Amanda LeeAnn Haught, Sarah Reed and Charlotte Stephens; Biology , Pablo Andres Bacon and Maranda L, Henley; speech communication , Esbeida Arce; accounting , Katherin R. Doss-Bradley and Jeffrey Pitilio; health and physical education, Cody Ellis; psychology , Steven M. Gibson and Ashley M. Holloway; nursing, Rose Go and Reyhan Rzayeva; business administration , Robert D. Hargis, Jennifer D. Lewis, Jennifer Leanne Mann and Jennifer VanDee; animal science , John-Ryan House and Tracie A. Montgomery; political science , Latrina K. Hunter; early childhood education, Courtnie Slingerland Morgan, Brigitte Thomas-Crain and Vanessa R. White; mathematics , Terrance Cody Rowland; spatial information systems, Danny Rowe; journalism, Katy Murray; pre-medicine, James S. Reeves; and social work, Barbara E. Whitted.
Inductees were encouraged to pick a sponsor they felt help them achieve such an honor. The sponsors were then allowed to attend the ceremony and pass a candle on to the students that represented the passing of knowledge. Have a comment?
