Greek Council Plans Greek Week

Kaitlyn Woods
Staff Writer

The Greek Council met Tuesday, Nov. 1 to discuss this years' Greek Week, starting in March, with additions to make Greek life more appealing to students.

"One thing about Greek Week is we need to get the rest of the students involved," Ron Hudson of Alpha Phi Alpha said.

One of the ideas suggested was a party after the formal, which all students would be invited to attend.

Stephanie Hackney of Tri Sigma said, "Maybe if other students came to the party and saw how much fun we were having, they would be more interested in Greek life."

Fundraisers are needed for this event. Locations for the party would be scarce and costly. The campus does not have many options for an indoor party and if held off-campus, a place would have to be rented and security is required.

Other topics discussed at the meeting included:

  • A new Greek building to be constructed if Jeter Hall is torn down, as suggested in the Master Plan.
  • Venders in the bookstore
  • Activities for fraternities and sororities in intramurals
