Washington: All Hell Has Broken Loose.

Tuesday, Democrats called a closed session of the Republican-controlled Senate in order to discuss the questionable intelligence that led to the war in Iraq. Not surprisingly, Republicans denounce the action as a mere political stunt. The session, coupled with the nomination of Samuel Alito Jr. to the Supreme Court has Washington prepared for a major battle, the likes only seen in a WWE steel cage. Wait, someone should call C-Span.

Ungrateful Seal Bites Off Woman's Nose.

A South African woman had her nose bitten off by a seal after trying to help the animal back into the ocean. Personally, I haven't liked anything Seal's done since that song on "Batman," but seriously - he doesn't have to go around biting people's noses off. It's just rude. (Tasteless joke No. 1).

Carnegie Mellon University and German scientists have developed a prototype translator to be worn in the mouth. So for instance, while you are speaking English, your audience could be hearing Japanese. On a sadder note, this does render the babelfish almost useless.

Harry Potter tops fantasy hero list.

According to poll by the Sci Fi channel, the young wizard is the most popular cinema fantasy hero of all time. The British mage beat out such legends as Han Solo and Dr. Who. Darth Vader was named the all-time greatest villain. For all you Potter fans out there, I'd just like to say this: Vader would kill the kid. ‘Nuff said.

Rent of the Week

"Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith." DVD (George Lucas, director)

If you haven't seen this movie yet, you are doing yourself a huge disservice. This is the film that made up for Jar Jar Binks, Midichlorians and all the other crap Lucas subjected fans to. The final film of the prequels features Anakin Skywalker's fall to the Dark Side. Episode III is by far the least kid-friendly of the whole franchise, although only a few kids are killed during the film.

Rating: A
