Paul Smith
Sports Information Director
The University of Arkansas at Monticello will host Military Appreciation Night
prior to the Boll Weevils' football game against Delta State on Saturday, Nov.
5. Major General Don Morrow, adjutant general of the Arkansas National Guard,
will be on hand for the festivities.
Admission to the game is free to all uniformed military personnel.
Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
"We are privileged to be able to honor the brave men and
women serving in our military," said Chancellor Jack Lassiter. "We are
honored that Major General Morrow will be on hand to assist us in our Military
Appreciation Day festivities."
Major General Morrow's Black Hawk helicopter will arrive on
the UAM campus at 3:45 p.m., and at 4 p.m., Morrow and Lassiter will lead the Walk of
Champions alongside UAM football players and Operation Iraqi Freedom veterans
Jordan and Sam Wisener.
All uniformed military personnel and their immediate families are
invited to a special tailgate party to begin immediately following the Walk of
Champions.
On-field ceremonies will begin 30 minutes prior to kickoff as
Morrow and Lassiter will recognize all military personnel in attendance, all
students, faculty, and staff serving in the military, and all football players
serving in the military.
Morrow will conduct the pre-game coin toss to conclude the
ceremony.
"I am happy that the University of
Arkansas at Monticello can provide an opportunity for our campus and our
community to come together and say 'thank you' to those who have volunteered to
serve in the military," Lassiter said. "We are thankful for their sacrifices and
honored to have them as guests on our campus."
