October: Breast Cancer Awareness Month Oct. 14-17 - TEKE Week features FREE food and entry into all events at Jeter Hall's TKE room.
Oct. 14 - The UAM band participates in the Vilonia Homecoming ceremonies at Vilonia High School. Oct. 14- "Midnight Madness" starts at 11:30 p.m. at Steelman Field House.Oct. 15 - Green/Black baseball intra-squad game begins at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 15 - Alpha Sigma Alpha will hold a chili supper from 5-7 p.m. at the First Methodist Church of Monticello. Oct. 16 - Green/Black baseball intra-squad game begins at 2 p.m.
Oct. 16 - The Acousticatz, a bluegrass trio,
will perform Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center. The $12 tickets may
be purchased at the door. UAM students with a valid ID get in FREE.

Oct. 17-22 - The UAM Bookstore is having a “20 percent Off” sale on all logo
items in the store. In addition, several racks will be marked 50 percent
off! Discounts do not apply to school supplies, or items already discounted. The
Bookstore will be open Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. for all your pre-game
supplies (car flags, foam hands, pom-poms etc.) prior to the football game.
Oct. 18 - Arkansas high schools will participate in the UAM Marching Band
Contest, held at Willis "Convoy" Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium from 4 to 9 p.m.
Oct. 19 - "We Can Make You Laugh" game show takes place in the
University Center Capitol Room from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. The show will be preceded
by a warm-up "teaser" in the cafeteria at 5 p.m. Oct. 24 - Deadline to submit entry forms for the Halloween Pumpkin Contest. Intramurals
Oct. 18 - Tuesday 12:30 p.m. Basketball Manager's Meeting "A" Walk, jog or run your way to a GREAT STUDENT (FACULTY/STAFF) BODY and earn a FREE T-shirt! Walk, jog or run 50, 75 or 100 miles by the end of the Fall semester and be well on your way to having a physically fit, "GREAT" Student Body. Participation is open to all current UAM students, faculty and staff. Mileage must be completed by Dec. 16. Miles completed on treadmills, stairmaster, etc. count toward total miles. (Athletes may NOT count miles completed as part of their practice.) Sign up in the Intramural Office (lower level - University Center). Participants are required to record their weekly mileage on the official chart in the Intramural office.
Meetings Oct. 19 - Delta Sigma Theta's Sigma Phi Chapter invites interested ladies to attend its rush at 6:30 p.m. in Library Conference Room A. Those interested must wear business attire, have taken 24 hours and maintained a 2.5 GPA prior to the Fall 2005 semester. Oct. 20 - Phi Beta Lambda, a business club, will meet at 12:40 p.m. in room 120 in the Babin Business Center. Students interested in forming a Latter Day Saint Student Association and possibly starting an Institute program should contact either Jason Bowen (e-mail: ejb1101@uamont.edu; phone: 501-529-0324) or Chris Wright (Office: MCB 206; e-mail: wrightch@uamont.edu; phone: 870-460-1189). The CIS Club will meet Nov. 3. The meeting will feature UAM alumnus Steven Forrest. All club members should also frequently check their e-mail the next few weeks, in regards to the club trip to Acxiom in Conway. The CIS Club will be accepting applications for five book stipends to be awarded Dec. 1. Applications will be available beginning Nov. 3. The deadline to apply ends Nov. 15. Information and applications packages can be obtained in the CIS Office, located in 101 Babin Business Center. The Chess Club meets Mondays at 4:30 p.m. in room A-23 of the Science Center. The Alpha Chi Student Honorary conducts regular business meetings for members only during the activity period (12:40 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.) on the second Tuesday of each month. Baptist Collegiate Ministries serve lunch Wednesdays at noon. First-timers eat free and everyone else eats for $2. Proceeds benefit summer mission trips and other activities.

Missionary Baptist Student Fellowship meets Thursdays at 7 p.m. at the
MBSF Center (near the tennis courts). The Social Work Club meets the first Wednesday of each month. U.N.I.T.Y
meets Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in 202 Memorial Classroom Building. The UNITY choir
rehearses Mondays at 7:30 p.m. in the Music building, Room 133. UNITY is

unityclub@uamont.edu. Opportunities 2006 Yearbook - Make sure your student organization appears in the 2006 yearbook. Fill out this contract and return it to 101 Jeter Hall by Nov. 4. Student Ambassadors - The Office of Admissions will forward recommendation sheets for Student Ambassador nominees by campus mail beginning Monday, Oct. 17. Nominees should be current freshmen or sophomores, who are creative, enthusiastic, academically motivated, good communicators and able to donate time to student recruitment and events. Recommendations for consideration will be accepted until Nov. 1. DREW COUNTY WRITERS - Drew Country Writers seek new members with a professional attitude and the commitment to publish. Members must produce tangible evidence that they write, though they may not have published at this point. The group meets on the third Thursday each month in the First Presbyterian Church library at 6:30 p.m. At the upcoming Oct. 20 meeting, membership and critiquing guidelines will be formalized, and an annual, affordable membership fee will be instituted to cover incidental organizational costs. UNITED WAY - The Fall 2005 United Way Campaign will be held Oct. 21 through Nov. 21. PUMPKIN DECORATING CONTEST - The Ambassadors will sponsor a Pumpkin Decorating Contest Oct. 28. While any recognized campus organization can enter, each organization may enter only once. Though no entry fee is required, the deadline to enter is Oct. 24. A DECORATED pumpkin (not carved) must be turned into the Office of Admissions by noon Oct. 26. Pumpkins will be judged on idea, creativity, originality and neatness. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. All pumpkins will be donated to a local children’s home for their annual pumpkin auction (Please keep this in mind when decorating). Entry forms are available in the Office of Admissions. UAM DIAMOND DOLLS - Anyone interested in being a Diamond Doll should call Stacy Dabney at 870-723-2443. Do you dream of your name in film credits? "Bloodlust and Chili Dogs," a student organized film, is looking for talent. If you are too shy to be on screen, then there are plenty of off-screen positions yet to be filled.
