Competition Features Area Schools

   Bands from seven Southeast Arkansas high schools and two junior highs will strut their stuff at the annual University of Arkansas at Monticello marching band contest beginning at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at Convoy Leslie-Cotton Boll Stadium.

   The annual competition is sponsored by the UAM marching band and Kappa Kappa Psi music fraternity.   Admission is free and open to the public.

   Bands scheduled for perform include high school bands from Monticello, Warren, Star City, Dumas, Hamburg, El Dorado and Crossett. Dumas Junior High and Pine Bluff Jack Robey Junior High will also participate.

   The UAM marching band will present its 2005 exhibition show at the conclusion of the contest at 8:30 p.m.
