Staff Writer University of Arkansas at Monticello's officers provide more than required from average campus security. "We don't look at it as courtesy. That is what we are here for," officer Jeff Peebles said. Unlocking cars, jumpstarting batteries and unlocking doors for students to retrieve items left behind exemplify it. "A lot of students lock their keys in their vehicles or need a boost because their battery is dead," dispatcher Dianne Johnson said. "We don't mind helping; the student just has to be present."
Students seem to appreciate the help. "Even though I hate getting parking tickets, it's good to know campus security is there if you need them," Stephanie Witherspoon, a student at UAM said.
