   Homecoming weekend at the University of Arkansas at Monticello will include everything from a parade and bonfire to a golf tournament and the annual UAM Sports Hall of Fame induction banquet when alumni return to the campus Oct. 20-23.

   The schedule of events for alumni begins with a parade through campus Thursday, Oct. 20 beginning at 12:30 p.m. in front of the Fine Arts Center and ending at the John F. Gibson University Center.

Who to choose? — UAM students chose the homecoming court from these contestants.

   UAM Chancellor and Mrs. Jack Lassiter will host a reception for inductees to the Sports Hall of Fame in the chancellor's home Oct. 20 at 5:30 p.m. with the Hall of Fame induction banquet to follow at 6:30. This year's inductees include basketball All-Americans Danny Reed and Carol Harrington, football All-Americans Dannie Barker and Ronnie Higgins, and the late Mike Nichols, a three-time all-conference lineman and linebacker.

   Tickets to the Hall of Fame banquet are $30 and may be purchased by calling (870) 460-1074.

   Also on Thursday is the annual Homecoming bonfire and pep rally at 7 p.m. on the Fine Arts Center lawn.
Activities for Friday, Oct. 21 include free golf for UAM alumni at the Monticello Country Club beginning at 1 p.m., a Welcome Home Reception for alumni and friends at 6 p.m. at the chancellor's home, and the annual A&M/UAM Alumni Dinner at 7 p.m. in the Green Room of the Gibson University Center. Tickets to the dinner are $12 and may be purchased at the door.

   The dinner will include the presentation of the Alumni Awards for Achievement and Merit and the Continuing the Connection Award, presentation of alumni association scholarships, recognition of the class of 1955 and a performance by the UAM concert choir.

   Saturday, Oct. 22 kicks off with the 42nd annual Dr. Scott Boyd Memorial Golf Tournament, which begins at 8 a.m. at the Monticello Country Club. Persons interested in playing in the tournament should contact Paul Griffin at (870) 367-6892 or Dr. Kathy King at (870) 460-1062.

   Other Saturday activities include a reunion breakfast for the class of 1955 at 8:30 a.m. in the Senate Room of the University Center. For information, contact Reginald Glover at (870) 367-6221.

   The African-American Alumni Elite Breakfast will be held in the University Center's Capitol Room, also at 8:30 a.m. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased by calling Shay Gillespie at (870) 367-2801.

   A reception for all UAM and A&M alumni will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Adams Room at Harris Hall. Greek fraternity and sorority chapter reunions will be held at various locations on campus from 10 to 11 a.m. For information, contact Robin Barker at (870) 460-1396.

   Tailgating will begin around Weevil Pond at 11 a.m. Head Coach Gwaine Mathews and the UAM football team will make their way through the tailgaters on the Walk of Champions at 1 p.m.

   Pre-game ceremonies, including the introduction of the Homecoming court and the coronation of the Homecoming queen, will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Convoy Leslie-Cotton Boll Stadium, followed by a football game between UAM and Arkansas Tech at 3 p.m.

   An alumni reception for members of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity will be held after the game at 7 p.m. at the Monticello Country Club.

   The weekend's activities will conclude on Sunday, Oct. 23 with a worship service for African-American alumni at the Metropolitan AME Zion Church of Monticello.
