Bradley Gill Arts & Entertainment Editor In 1968 George Romero directed "Night of the Living Dead" on a $144,000 budget. Thirty seven years later, sophomore Johnny Carr and freshmen Brandon McCaughan are planning their own independent horror film entitled, "Bloodlust and Chili Dogs." "I developed the idea for the story, Johnny came in on the second draft," McCaughan, the director for the project, said. While a budget of $1,500 to $2,000 seems rather small compared to the million-dollar blockbusters Hollywood cranks out, most of the cult classics of horror were made on shoe-string budgets such as Sam Raimi’s "Evil Dead" and the aforementioned "Living Dead" series. "There’s a level I could do it at, and a level I want to do it at," McCaughan said of the budget. Shooting for the film is expected to begin and wrap up in December. "The whole filming process shouldn’t take more than a week." Carr, the producer, said. Currently the two filmmakers
are looking for someone to shoot a behind-the-scenes documentary of the
film. They are also seeking cameramen and note that any donations will be
gladly accepted. Have a comment? Please e-mail us. © The Voice 2005 Revised 09/17/2007 02:14:56 PM— http://www.uamont.edu/Organizations/TheVoice/3_4/film.htm |
