University Hosts Family Day

  Parents and family members of University of Arkansas at Monticello students will be guests of the university for Parent/Family Appreciation Day on Saturday, Oct. 1.

   Highlights of the event include a performance by the UAM concert choir, presentation of the Family of the Year Award and a performance by nationally known comedian and magician John Hopkins. The university will also host a tailgate party for UAM students and family beginning at 4 p.m. at the southeast corner of Weevil Pond. All parents and family members will receive free admission to the UAM-Southern Arkansas football game which kicks off at Convoy Leslie-Cotton Boll Stadium at 6 p.m.

   Other events include open scrimmages by the baseball and softball teams at 10 a.m., tours of the Turner Neal Museum of Natural History from 10 a.m. to noon, and an open house at all campus residence halls from 11 a.m. until noon.

   Free child identification kits and fingerprinting for children of UAM students, faculty, and staff as well as free photo buttons will be available from noon to 1 p.m. in the John F. Gibson University Center. Discounts at the UAM bookstore will also be available from noon to 6 p.m.

   UAM students and their families are invited to attend a registration and reception from noon to 1 p.m. with a program of entertainment to follow.
