Why not Resources |
Dear Staff, I found this article to be poorly written. What is the thesis?
Is it about Bush vacationing? Then why does it discuss illegal immigration, Iraq
and global warming? Those issues do tie into the closing statement that states
that government's role should be "protecting the American people and the
environment in which they live," but it fails to show how either of these are
connected to, or impaired by, the president being on vacation. I don't argue
that the president spends an excessive amount of time on vacation, but this
article fails in addressing, much less proving, its point.
Peter,
Thanks for taking the time to read The Voice.
The thesis of the article you're referring to is that the president was on
vacation when he should have been addressing many of the country's problems:
illegal immigration, Iraq, global warming and gas prices. It would be
pointless to complain about the president being on vacation without mentioning
why he shouldn't be, right? See how it all ties together?
Those problems faced America. America's president was on vacation.
Also, nowhere in the article does it say the president's entire vacation took
place in August. It simply says he fished, napped, rode his bike and cleared
brush in August.
