The upcoming week of March 6-11, the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. will be hosting its sponsored week of Alpha Week. They have a number of events planned out for the enjoyment of the students on campus. They have activities from a Talent Show to an Art Exhibition.

On Monday, a step exhibition, the "Great Ape Escape," starts at the Patio Café's Outdoor Patio at 6:06 p.m. The Alphas have competed and placed at national step show competitions. I'm sure they will put on a show for the campus. The Jazz and Poetry Night "Cold Phuzion" will also be held Monday at the Patio Café. This will start at 7:06 p.m. following the step exhibition.

On Tuesday, there will also be two activities for the campus to participate in. They are hosting "A Voteless People is a Hopeless People," which is a voter registration drive being held in the Green Room from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you have not registered to vote and would like more information, come by the Green Room during that time. Also being held on Tuesday will be an Art Exhibition of "Phrozen in Time." This activity will also be held in the Green Room from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On Wednesday, a talent and variety show will be held in the Green Room starting at 8:06 p.m. There will be exciting acts to be sure to not miss this show!

On Thursday, they will host "Pharaoh's Ball," their Annual Black and Gold Ball, in the Capitol Room starting at 8:06 p.m.

The Alphas will host a barbeque Friday at the Maxwell Pavilion at 2 p.m. This is a time to get together and hang out with the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Also on Friday, they will be hosting an "Ice Storm" party out at the Drew County Fairgrounds. Doors for the party will open at 10:06 p.m.

The final activity will be "Soul Food Saturday" which is a Gospel concert. The place and time for this activity will be announced at a later date.

The brothers are still looking for individuals to participate in these activities. If you have a piece of art for the art exhibition, poetry or jazz piece to recite, talent or variety act, or wish to know about the gospel concert, feel free to contact the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. by emailing them at alphia@uamont.edu or you can call 870-460-2175. If you don't want to participate, then come out and enjoy the festivities and support the Alpha Phi Alpha brothers.
