Contributing Writer Members of the University of Arkansas at Monticello debate team just completed the first half of the 2006 British debate tour. The
U.S. Montgomery Cup team currently has a record of 2-2 and is
looking at the final three debates to determine the outcome of this year's tour. The UAM squad is producing top quality performances and maintaining the skill that was recognized when selected for the tour. The squad includes Matt Baumgarten, a senior criminal justice major from Monticello; Brian Rauls, a sophomore speech major from Bearden; Brooke Flemister, a sophomore general studies major from Monticello; and Joel Brown, a sophomore nursing major from Monticello. The Montgomery Cup Exhibition Tour was instituted in 1993 by the English Speaking Debate Unions of England, Scotland and Wales. The tour is a competitive, academic and international exchange between outstanding debate students from the United States and Great Britain.
Remaining stops include Aberdeen, Inverness and Glasgow. The team
returns March 10. Have a comment? Please e-mail us. ŠThe Voice 2006 Revised 09/17/2007 02:08:49 PM — http://www.uamont.edu/Organizations/TheVoice/3_19/forensics.htm |
