Staff Writer

The Arkansas Association of School Business Officials elected Carolyn Brassfield, business manager of the Dumas School District, as head of its organization for the 2007-08 school year at the Feb.28 business meeting.

AASBO, a professional education association of about 400 members comprising of persons holding responsible positions in business management in local districts, is one of nine groups forming the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators.

Brassfield presently serves as AASBO's vice president and will assume the position of president-elect for the 2006-07 school year, ultimately taking over as president on July 1, 2007.

Dumas Schools Superintendent Tom Cox said the community is very proud of Brassfield.

"Mrs. Brassfield is a good person who works very hard at what she does," Cox said.

Brassfield, an 11-year veteran with the district, previously held the positions of secretary and accounts payable clerk.

"I am thankful for the opportunity to be able to work with the wonderful people of the Dumas School District," Brassfield said.
