Conference Examines Emissions Trading

Arkansas Energy Office

The Arkansas Environmental Federation, the Arkansas Energy Office and Winrock International are hosting a one-day conference on green house gas emissions trading Thursday, March 9 at the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas.

Climate change has increasingly become recognized as one of the leading economic and environmental challenges of our time. With important contributions to our state from agriculture, forest products and manufacturing, Arkansas stands to be heavily impacted by emerging climate change initiatives.

Business and policy leaders need to explore methods to best position the state to counter risks from potentially high-impact policies while exploiting opportunities to use the state's assets for new economic benefits. The conference will be focused on providing both information and the opportunity for roundtable discussion, Q&A and conferee participation to promote the crafting of solutions and strategies for Arkansas.
