Sports Editor Softball heads to Conway to play in the Central Arkansas Classic. Sophomore Kate Brady of Longview, Texas, will look for her fist strikeout of the season this weekend. She has a record of 1 - 0 this season and an earned run average of 1, which is a team high. The team is 3 - 5 after being shut out in two consecutive games, one by the University of North Alabama and the other coming at the hands of No. 4 nationally ranked Alabama-Huntsville.
This weekend the Cotton Blossoms will be playing an actual single-game elimination tournament against other conference schools. However, the games will not be counted as conference-eligible games but will be effective towards region records. Rivals Delta State and Southern Arkansas will be present for the tournament as well as other schools.
After the fall of last year's team in the conference tournament, the Cotton Blossoms had to make a lot of moves, such as moving senior Jodie Scott from center field, dealing with the absence of sophomore Gemma Gibson due to basketball, and playing sophomore Hot Springs native Meredith Heckel at second base.
This weekend is a preview of what is
to come in the coming days of conference play. ŠThe Voice 2006 Revised 02/18/2006 01:49:49 AM http://www.uamont.edu/Organizations/TheVoice/3_17/sb2.htm |
