Band Students Receive Invitations

   Nine University of Arkansas at Monticello band students received an invitation to try out for the Intercollegiate Band this year. 

   The Intercollegiate Band consists of the best college students in Arkansas. Band directors nominate members of their band, and wait to see if the nominees are selected. The selection committee sent invitations to Danielle Ayres, Nicole Payton, Christi Allen, Thaddeus Webb, Brad Fryer, Kelly Martin, Kasey Earl, Don Johnson and Johnathan Bradley.

   The selected students will proceed to the convention and audition for their seat. Next, the students are placed into chair order and practice for three days. The students perform music for all band directors and high school students in the state.

    "It gives our students a comparison of themselves to their peers and gives them a gauge of where they are," said Gary Meggs, assistant professor of music and director of bands.
