The Southwest College Bookstore Association appointed bookstore manager Billy Hogue as the Arkansas representative on its board of trustees at the recent SWBCA meeting in Tulsa, Okla. A 1986 UAM graduate and bookstore manager since 1998, Hogue actively participates in both the SWBCA and the National Association of College Stores. The SWBCA is a five-state regional association consisting of college and university bookstore managers from Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. The University of Arkansas' Board of Trustees recently elected the following officers effective March 1: Stanley E. Reed, chairman; James E. Spring Training 2006" The 7th annual program encourages students, faculty and staff in their efforts to achieve improved physical health. Each trainee will participate in an independent exercise program and submit documentation for a minimum of 20 workouts by Friday, March 17. This documentation will include the type and date of the workout. Spring Training 2006 will provide regularly scheduled weight checks, body fat analyses, blood pressure checks and blood sugar assessments for each trainee upon request. UAM private scholarships - Students interested in applying for campus scholarships by the March 1 deadline for Fall 2006 must meet various guidelines, including major, grade point, county of residence and number of hours earned. Pick up an application for consideration in the Office of Admissions on the first floor of Harris Hall. The AWS Foundation announced several scholarship opportunities for students studying welding technology, engineering or associated careers. These opportunities exist for both undergraduate and graduate programs. Application deadlines range through March 1. Complete details and applications are available at www.aws.org/foundation. The Drew County Extension Homemakers offer two $1,000 academic scholarships for the 2006-07 term, which must be used for tuition, fees, room, board or books. Return of Title IV - Students who receive Title IV aid and do not complete at least 60 percent of the semester for which they are enrolled (Spring Term = March 26) may be required to return a portion of the Federal funds received. Title IV aid includes Pell Grants, SEOG, Perkins Loans, Stafford Loans and PLUS Loans. The withdrawal date for students who officially withdraw will be the actual date of withdrawal as determined by the Registrar’s Office. Students who cease attending without officially withdrawing are considered "unofficial withdrawals." UAM COMMENCEMENT - Commencement will be held May 12 at 10 a.m. at Convoy Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium. In case of inclement weather, commencement will move to Steelman Fieldhouse. To receive mailed materials from the university, your permanent mailing address must be accurate.
