at Monticello will celebrate Black History Month with a
weeklong slate of activities Feb. 13-17, according to Clay Brown, vice chancellor
for Student Affairs.
The week’s events will include historical displays, a lecture and
Valentine's Day Ball. A complete list of activities
follows:
Monday, Feb. 13
National Pan-Hellenic Council Displays
University Center Green Room 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
The National Pan-Hellenic Council, Incorporated is currently
composed of nine international Greek letter sororities
and fraternities who promote interaction through forums,
meetings and other mediums for the exchange of
information, and engage in cooperative programming and
initiatives through various activities and functions.
Tuesday, Feb. 14
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Valentine’s Day Ball

Wednesday, Feb. 15

Multicultural Lecture- Performance
University Center Green Room noon - 1:30 p.m.
"A Journey of Spirit" embraces cultural differences, eradicates
stereotypes and encourages greater understanding.
Because music is not just lyrics, beats or cleaver
rhymes, but history that has shaped music throughout
time.
Thursday, Feb. 16
Save-A-Life Tour
High-Impact Alcohol Awareness Program
U.C. Green Room 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
An immersive multi-screen state-of-the-art drunk driving simulator
allows people to experience firsthand how alcohol
impairs driving skills. Each participant receives a
"ticket" showing the number of violations committed
during their simulation and an "I'll Take the Keys"
bracelet.
Friday, Feb. 17
African-American History Cinema
A display of African-American History in Hollywood
