Erin O'Neill, associate professor of English, offers ongoing
free yoga classes to persons of all ages, genders and at any level of fitness in the
Gibson University Center Green Room on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5
p.m. until 6 p.m. "Yoga is great for strength, toning, flexibility, relaxation
and stress relief. It also serves as a good immune system support," O'Neill
said. Sparks began taking yoga classes last October to learn to become more calm, relaxed and physically stronger and more flexible. She tries to practice three times a week. Sparks said she believes the goal of yoga is to "feel good" and she emphasizes the fact that the exercises are not too strenuous, but do provide a workout.
Persons interested in yoga classes do not need to register. There is no need to bring exercise mats as the carpet in the Green Room proves to be quite ample. Comfortable clothing is suggested.
