Scott Carpino (Jr., Paragould),
DeMathus Ledet (Sr., Lafayette, La.) and Anthony
Rodriguez (Jr., Franklin, La.) have been named to
various All-Region squads for their play during the 2005
football season.
Carpino is the Boll Weevils’ lone First Team selection, earning
All-Southeast Region honors from Don Hansen’s Football
Gazette after seeing time this season at safety,
linebacker, defensive line, quarterback and running
back; picking up 31 carries for 147 yards and two
touchdowns, completing and catching one pass, returning
30 kicks for 537 yards and posting 20 tackles on the
season.

DeMathus Ledet | Ledet was named to an All-Region squad for the second consecutive
year, having earned Second Team honors from Daktronics
and Third Team honors from Don Hansen’s Football Gazette
after following up a stellar junior campaign with a
senior year that saw him become one of UAM’s defensive
leaders. He finished the season ranking fourth in the
GSC and 22nd in the nation in interceptions (6), first
in the GSC and 13th nationally in tackles (116) and
second in the GSC and 23rd nationally in tackles per
game (10.5).

Anthony Rodriguez |
Rodriguez earned Third Team honors from Don Hansen’s Football
Gazette as a punter, posting the third-highest punting
average in the GSC (40.8 yards), and the most punting
yards in the GSC (2,775). In a loss to North Alabama,
Rodriguez punted for 484 yards, setting a new UAM
record. Rodriguez notched 11 punts of 50+ yards and had
a long punt of 65 yards for the season.
All players selected to first or second teams will be
considered for All-America honors.
WEEVIL FOOTBALL ANNOUNCES SEVEN JUNIOR COLLEGE
SIGNEES
The University of Arkansas at Monticello Boll Weevil football
program signed seven junior college student-athletes to
national letters of intent, head coach Gwaine Mathews
announced Dec. 21.
"We really feel that this junior college signing class is the best
signing class of most Division II schools," Mathews
said. "We are thrilled about these new Weevils and we
will be adding three or four more names to this list."
