Writing Center Prepares Students

The Writing Center on the first floor of the Memorial Classroom Building helps students by providing feedback, suggestions and support.

   The center also helps students generate ideas, develop a thesis, learn about grammar and clarity, revise early drafts and become confident writers. The Writing Center can work on many projects for students some such as compositions, critiques, summaries, reports and outlines.

   UAM student Shawn Williams said the Writing Center became a great place for getting help on his papers. Student workers agree.

   "The Writing Center gives a second opinion on the work of students,” two-year student worker Ron Hudson said. "The Writing Center gives guidance on the student's paper before they turn them in for class."

   Hours for finals week are Monday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., Wednesday 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Writing Center closes Friday for Christmas Break.
