A familiar face is returning to the administration at the University of Arkansas at Monticello after a six-year absence.

Linda Yeiser, who became the chief fiscal officer in the University of Arkansas System in 1991 when she was named UAM's vice chancellor for Finance and Administration, is returning to Monticello as vice chancellor for Advancement. She comes to UAM from a position as assistant director of development for foundation relations at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Tex.

As vice chancellor for advancement, Yeiser will direct the university's private fund-raising efforts and supervise the office of alumni affairs.

Yeiser's appointment was announced today by UAM Chancellor Jack Lassiter.

"I am pleased to welcome Linda Yeiser back to UAM," said Lassiter. "She was an important part of this institution as vice chancellor for finance and administration and I am excited that she has agreed to take a leadership role in our private fund-raising efforts. This position is a new one for the university and is vital to the implementation of our long-range master plan for the campus. Much of what we are planning for the campus must be funded in part by private resources and Linda will play a leading role in securing those resources.

Lassiter said Yeiser will also supervise the Office of Alumni Affairs, with goals of updating and streamlining current alumni records as well as strengthening the connection between alumni and the university.

Yeiser came to UAM in 1980 as an accountant, became accounting supervisor a year later and was named controller in 1983. She became the first female chief financial officer among the state's four-year public institutions of higher education in 1991 when she became vice chancellor for finance and administration, a post she held for nine years.

A native of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Yeiser earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky and a master of business administration degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She is a former president of the Arkansas Association of College and University Business Officers and in 2001 was selected to receive the AACUBO Lifetime Membership Award.
