The State Contractors Licensing Board recently presented a $25,000 donation to the University of Arkansas at Monticello’s Arkansas Heavy Equipment Operator Training Academy.
The donation was made by Howard Williams of North Little Rock, administrator of the Licensing Board. The board licenses building and construction contractors throughout the state.
The AHEOTA is housed in the Southeast Arkansas Community-Based Education Center in Warren, which was recently placed under UAM’s direction.
Chancellor Jack Lassiter accepted the gift on behalf of the university.
“We’re very grateful to the Contractors Licensing Board for this generous donation,” Lassiter said. “The Arkansas Heavy Equipment Operators Training Academy provides valuable job training in a high-demand field. The individuals who come through this program are important to the construction industry in this state and region. We’re pleased the Contractors Licensing Board has recognized the importance of this program.”
John Williams of Warren, director of the AHEOTA, thanked the Licensing Board.
“This type of support will strengthen our program and help us provide important job skills,” Williams said.
