Representatives of the Monticello High School class of 1965 recently presented a $10,000 check to the University of Arkansas at Monticello Foundation Fund to create an endowed scholarship fund for MHS graduates planning to attend UAM.

The ongoing campaign is being financed in part by sales of Dan Coston prints of the old Monticello High School as well as private donations. The scholarship fund must reach $15,000 to achieve endowed status.

Recipients of the scholarship must be Monticello High School graduates who plan to attend UAM. Making the presentation for the class of ’65 were Carolyn Ripley, Jane Jordan and Tommy Newman.

“On behalf of the university and the Foundation Fund, I am pleased to accept this generous gift,” Chancellor Jack Lassiter said. “This will be a lasting legacy for the class of ’65 that will benefit future generations of Monticello High School graduates.”
