The family of the late Dr. Paul A. Wallick Sr. of Monticello has donated $15,000 to the University of Arkansas at Monticello Foundation Fund to create an endowed scholarship in his memory.

The endowment was presented by Wallick’s children – Brian Wallick of Little Rock, and Paul A. Wallick Jr. and Sherri Witcher of Monticello. Scholarships from the endowment will be awarded to pre-medicine majors with first preference given to students from Drew County and second to students from Southeast Arkansas. If no pre-medicine students meet the criteria, scholarships will be awarded to nursing majors admitted to the bachelor of science in nursing degree program at the junior level.

Wallick graduated from the pre-medicine program at Arkansas A&M College (now UAM) in 1954 and attended medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

“We are most grateful for this generous gift from the family of Dr. Wallick,” Chancellor Jack Lassiter said. “Dr. Wallick meant so much to so many people in this region. He always had a special place in his heart for UAM and for our pre-medicine program. This is a wonderful way to continue his legacy.”
