QB Cory Allred

Allred, a senior from Lancaster, Calif., displayed his dominance throughout his two-year career, being named Gulf South Conference Offensive Player of the Year in each season at UAM. Allred averaged 338.3 yards per game (2nd GSC, 5th nationally), 314.9 passing yards per game, and threw 27 touchdown passes on the season. A two-time GSC Offensive Player of the Week during the 2004 season, Allred twice made the all-Gulf South Conference First Team, as well as the 2003 Daktronics All-Southeast Region second team. He finished his two-year career ranking seventh all-time in the Gulf South Conference in career passing yards with 7,070; finishing second in the UAM record books to four-year starter Kevin McCarn’s 7,864.

Allred was one of eight national finalists for the 2004 Harlon Hill Trophy, and has recently been named one of the Little Rock Touchdown Club’s College Players of the Year.

Mixon joins Allred on the All-Region First Team after bursting onto the GSC scene with 66 catches for 1,245 yards and 12 touchdowns. A junior from Vicksburg, Miss., Mixon’s 168.1 -purpose yards per game led the Gulf South Conference and were seventh nationally, while also placing third in receptions per game (6.00), and second in receiving yards per game (113.2). Mixon's 66 catches broke the previous junior record of 65, and his 1,245 yards receiving broke the UAM single-season mark of 1,200; both set by current Houston Texan Derick Armstrong in 2000.

Allred and Mixon’s efforts led a UAM offense that finished eighth nationally in passing yards per game.

As First-Team members, both Allred and Mixon will be forwarded to the national ballot. The Daktronics All-America team will be released Dec. 16.
