Group supports baseball team

The Weevil baseball team has their own student organized support group: the Diamond Dolls.

“We will show recruits around, go to all the games, decorate the guy’s lockers and make them candy bags, group founder Stacey Dabney said.

Dabney said she came up with the idea while a student at the University of Arkansas at Conway before transferring to the University of Arkansas at Monticello. The organization will also raise money for the baseball team.

“They are kind of like cheerleaders for baseball, Ashley Lynn, director of student activities and programs, said.

The Diamond Dolls organization provides an opportunity for UAM students to get involved with the baseball team.  The group held an interest meeting earlier this fall but still needs members to help the organization become a success, Dabney said.

“Baseball is still a favorite pastime for people and there are many fans who might like to become involved,” she said.

Anyone interested may contact Dabney at 870-723-2443.
