Allred, a senior from Lancaster, Calif., also captured first team All-Gulf South Conference honors after another stellar season for the Boll Weevils, ranking second in the league in total offense (338.3 ypg), passing (314.9 ypg), and passing touchdowns (27). A two-time GSC Offensive Player of the week, Allred finished his two-year career ranking seventh all-time in the Gulf South Conference in career passing yards with 7,070; finishing second in the UAM record books to four-year starter Kevin McCarn's 7,864. Wideout Von Mixon joined Cory Allred on the All-GSC First Team after bursting onto the scene this season with 66 catches for 1,245 yards and 12 touchdowns. A junior from Vicksburg, Miss., Mixon's 168.1 all-purpose yards per game led the Gulf South Conference, while also placing third in receptions per game (6), and second in receiving yards per game (113.2). Mixon's 66 catches broke the previous junior record of 65, and his 1,245 yards receiving broke the UAM single-season mark of 1,200; both set by current Houston Texan Derick Armstrong in 2000. Sophomore defensive back Dwayne Perkins and junior defensive back DeMathis Ledet were named to the All-Gulf South Conference second team. Perkins finished fifth overall in the Gulf South Conference in tackles, posting 98 on the season. His 67 solo tackles led the league. The sophomore from Bossier City, La., also contributed 5.5 tackles for loss.
Ledet registered two interceptions on the season, returning one 34 yards for a touchdown. The junior from Lafayette, La., registered 69 total tackles on the season.
