Cotton Blossoms compete in GSC cross country championship

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Rachael Blakely led all University of Arkansas-Monticello runners as the Cotton Blossoms Cross Country squad competed in the Gulf South Conference Championship Meet at Sharon Johnston Park. 

   Blakely, who finished 93rd, completed the course in 23:59.8, 22 seconds ahead of fellow Blossoms runner Andi Reed, who finished in 24:21.8.  Melissa Guillot (26:44.9), Ashley May (29.46.8), and Stephanie Priest (29.53.1) rounded out UAM's top five finishers.

   Chastan Denning (30:26.9) and TeAundra Harden (34:39.3) also ran for UAM.

   Alabama-Huntsville (36) won the event, finishing one point better than Harding (37). Central Arkansas (135), Ouachita Baptist (138), and Delta State (152) finished in the top five. UAM finished in 16th with a team score of 501.
