Busses lined the parking lot next to
"Convoy" Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium and a crowd gathered inside
Oct. 12 during the 31st annual University
of Arkansas-Monticello/KKΨ Invitational Contest.
This year’s event featured 19 schools and approximately 2,000 students. Members of KKΨ volunteered many hours to help organize the event
and help the estimated 4,000 people in attendance.
“It runs smoothly because the older students who graduate pass the job to a younger student,”
said Gary Meggs,
director of the UAM Band.
This year’s award for Overall Best Band went to Harmony Grove in Benton, a 2A school.
UAM Chancellor Jack Lassiter presented the awards to the bands.
Future performances for the band include Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 30 and a Christmas concert on Dec. 2.
