About that 19th edition

Arkansas Decision To Deny Student Aid To Illegal Aliens

I am a 1987 Graduate of UAM with a BS in Business Administration. I applaud the Arkansas Legislature for doing the right thing and not rewarding those who purpose to violate our national borders.

South Arkansas has been blessed with the diversity and ingenuity of European immigrants who settled in the Lake Village area. They played by the rules working very hard to succeed without shortcuts. Many of their progeny have been involved in the growth and advancement the University of Arkansas is realizing now. In their day, these newcomers kept their identities but were respectful enough to honor our culture and abide by our laws. They assimilated, learned the language and in the process, they made things better for all of us. They were not interested in hand-outs. Instead they came here with a "Can Do" attitude.

I am all for anyone pursuing the proper channels to come to America to make a better life for themselves. I am all for it. I am not in favor of anyone purposely breaking any law, much less immigration laws. Furthermore, I will not stand for the subsidizing of such criminal behavior during an era when our very survival depends, in part, upon sound border control policy.

Respectfully Submitted,
