QB Cory Allred leads the Gulf South Conference's top offense (488.5 yrds/gm, 11th in NCAA DII).
The University of Arkansas-Monticello welcomes West Alabama to Convoy-Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium for the 2004 Gulf South Conference home opener on Saturday, September 18.

The Weevils, coming off of a 59-21 loss on the road to 6th-ranked North Alabama, look to go 2-0 at home after a convincing 44-13 victory over Bethel College in the first game of the season.

West Alabama has lost 11 consecutive, including all three games this year. Last week, the Tigers hosted Delta State and were soundly defeated 59-7.

"Coach McCorkle will have his squad ready to play," said UAM head coach Gregg Ricono. "He brings an old-school mentality to the field and we will have to adjust to a rugged, tenacious opponent."

Senior tailback Craig Reed, who has turned in two 100-yard performances in three games this season, will help take some pressure off of QB Cory Allred as the Weevils will throw a new-found balanced attack at the Tigers.

"Craig Reed has easily been the most consistent player we have had on offense all season," continued Ricono. "Both Reed and Allred are very important to our success for the remainder of the season."

Kick off is scheduled for 6 PM with the Walk of Champions beginning at 3:45 PM.
KWRF will carry a Live Broadcast of the game and can be found at 105.5 FM or 860 AM.
