Bob Weih, associate professor of Forestry and director of the spatial analysis laboratory at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, recently became the first instructor in the United States authorized to teach courses offered by Leica Geosystems.

Leica Geosystems is a Swiss-based company best known for a broad array of products that capture, model, analyze, visualize and present spatial information. Weih is now authorized to teach  many of the courses that Leica Geosystems teaches in its training center in the U.S. and through its international partners.

In addition, the UAM spatial analysis laboratory has been authorized as a Leica Geosystems Customer Education Authorized Education Center. The authorization means that the lab is equipped with the systems and resources necessary to successfully train in accordance with Leica Geosystems standards.

Weih has been a member of the UAM forestry faculty since 1994. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University, a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota and a doctorate from Virginia Tech.
