Rodeo teams representing 17 colleges and universities from seven states will compete in a three-day rodeo hosted by the University of Arkansas at Monticello March 31 through April 2 at Hestand Stadium in Pine Bluff.
Competition will begin each evening at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for students ages six through 12, and free for children five and under. UAM students, faculty and staff will be admitted for $5 with university I.D.
Events will include bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, team roping, breakaway roping, goat tying and barrel racing.
Schools scheduled to compete include UAM, Abraham Baldwin College of Tifton, Ga., Arkansas State, ASU-Beebe, Arkansas Tech, Dyersburg (Tenn.) State, East Central (Miss.) Community College, Faulkner State (Ala.) Community College, Mississippi State, Missouri Valley College, Murray (Ky.) State, Northwest Mississippi Community College, Southern Arkansas, Southwest Missouri State, Troy, Tennessee-Martin and West Alabama.
UAM will be represented by an 18-member team. Scheduled to compete for UAM are Katie Bandy, a freshman from Summerville, Ga.; Paige Bolin, a freshman from Pine Bluff; Dilynn Dodd, a sophomore from Springdale; Megan Fisher, a sophomore from DeWitt; Jared Hall, a sophomore from Jonesboro; Brian Hobson, a sophomore from Sunflower, Miss.; John Ryan House, a sophomore from Benton; Cody James, a junior from Monticello; Brad Johnston, a sophomore from Hampton; and Laura Kennedy, a senior from Quitman.
Also scheduled to compete for UAM are Chris Kyle, a junior from Center Ridge; Jennifer Montgomery, a sophomore from Scotts Hill, Tenn.; Lindsey Nixon, a junior from Bee Branch; Sara Parker, a junior from Carlisle; Walt Parker, a sophomore from Carlisle; Corey Ruff, a freshman from Clinton; Lacee Smith, a sophomore from Pine Bluff; and Brandi Waller, a junior from Cabot.
