The University of Arkansas-Monticello's Cotton Blossoms (10-8, 5-3 GSC) took on Arkansas Tech (8-13, 3-5 GSC) Jan. 31. The Blossoms looked to continue putting slots in the win column while the Golden Suns of Arkansas Tech wanted to extend to a three-game winning streak.

Theresa Tran opened the game with the first points for the Blossoms, which led to a 12-4 run by the Blossoms to open the game. Wendy Young dominated the Suns defense as she scored 16 points in the first half on 8 of 10 from the floor. At halftime, though, the Golden Suns had closed the gap to one point with a score of 32-31 in favor of the Blossoms.

The Suns came out in the second half making a 6-0 run against the Blossoms to put the score at 37-32 in favor of Tech. The Blossoms came right back however as Tran stopped the run on a three-point shot, followed by Jenna Thomas’ three-pointer to bring the Blossoms to within 39-38. After Tech made it 41-39, Thomas made another three-point bucket to tie the game at 41. With Tech leading 47-43, Thomas came right back and hit another huge three pointer to start off 3 of 3 from three-point range, which brought the Blossoms back to within one.

The Blossoms pulled out another close one by beating the Golden Suns 63-61. Young led the Blossoms with 21 points on 10 of 14 shooting.
