It's A Deal — Chancellor Lassiter and Staff Sgt. Lee
University of Arkansas at Monticello Chancellor Jack Lassiter recently announced the completion of an agreement with the Arkansas Army National Guard to provide full tuition scholarships for active guard members.

“I am pleased that UAM has the opportunity to provide assistance to the men and women who are serving our country through active participation in the Army National Guard,” Lassiter said.

Eligible students will receive 75 percent tuition from the National Guard and 25 percent tuition from UAM. The scholarship begins this fall and may be used at any of the three UAM campuses. Interested students should contact their Army National Guard unit.

Staff Sgt. Brandon Lee, stationed with the Army National Guard recruitment office in Monticello, has been preparing press releases for his units and is excited about UAM’s support of the men and women serving the country.

“It is exciting for our guard unit and for the future of the Arkansas National Guard,” he said. “This is just another way that we are fortunate to have the university in our community.”

Not only will currently deployed Arkansas guardsmen be able to benefit from this tuition assistance, but all new members who join will also be able to receive assistance for college. Lassiter gave full credit for the program to the Financial Aid office under the direction of Susan Brewer, and to the Office of Admissions led by Mary Whiting.

“Ms. Brewer and Ms. Whiting, along with their staff work hard to provide the best possible service to our students and without their effort, this would not have been possible,” Lassiter said.
