During the summer, the 2004-2005 UAM cheerleading team participated in Cheer Camp at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo. Not only did the team come home with first place in the Fight Song competition, they came home as the No. 1 team in their division.

Cheerleading coach Ashley Lynn could hardly contain her excitement.

“They won the most collegiate award, which is the highest honor and the best award given out at camp,” she said. “I am very proud of each of them. They all worked hard to achieve this great honor!”

Lynn said the Most Collegiate award is one that all teams strive to win. When the award is presented to the winners, an announcement proclaims that all campers should strive to be like the winning team, which represents cheerleading as a whole.
