Lucky Cleaners
Matt and Lindsay Henry
Star City, Arkansas

Matt and Lindsay Henry contacted the UAM Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center in early 2008.  Matt, a financial advisor, and Lindsay, completing a master's degree in marketing, wanted to invest in a small business located where they could enjoy the small town quality of life they love.

Kathryn Peacock, center director, worked with them to explore the feasibility of one start-up and one business purchase--both of which were ruled out.  Two months later the right opportunity-- to purchase Lucky Cleaners--came their way.  Matt began working part time with the owner to learn every phase of the operation.

Peacock assisted with valuation and various cash flow scenarios, which were used to finalize the purchase price and demonstrate repayment ability to support loan financing through Mark Owen at the Bank of Star City.

In September 2008 the Henrys began operating Lucky Cleaners with state-of-the-art equipment, offering dry cleaning, laundry, alterations, monogramming, and bridal dress preservation services.  Pick-up and delivery points are located at Sutton's Petal Shoppe in McGehee and The Arrangement Shoppe in Rison.

Our Thanks to Matt and Lindsay Henry for permission to use their story.  All services were provided at no cost.

“I didn't know how involved starting or buying a business was until working with the UAM Small Business and Technology Development Center.  They made it much easier.  Now I can't imagine anyone trying to do it any other way."                                                                                  --Matt Henry
