Bradford Campus Manager Overview
Preparing to connect from the UAM resident halls.
Prior to arrival on campus visit the
Campus Manager Scan. This site will allow you to scan your
system to ensure it meets all UAM requirements for network access.
Listed below are the things UAM requires to pass a scan and
allow network access.
-
Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista, and MAC.
Earlier operating systems such as Windows 3.1 and Windows 98 are
not supported.
-
Up to date Anti-virus program. There are a variety of
anti-virus programs that will work.
Keep in mind that these programs must be up to date. Anti-virus

-
All operating system critical and security updates. Go to
Microsoft Updates
site for these. This is mandatory and systems will not
pass the scan without all updates.
-
All Microsoft Office updates. Users who have copies of
Microsoft Office are also required to keep this software up to
date.
-
All users need to have Ad-Aware installed. There is a free
version that can be downloaded at
http://lavasoft.com/.
-
All users are required to have a firewall enabled at all times.
-
Microsoft OS users are required to have automatic updates
enabled.
Once you have successfully passed this scan, your system has met the
security requirements needed to access the UAM network. Please run
the scan again as close as possible to your arrival on campus to
ensure that you have any newer operating system updates or virus
definition file updates.
When you arrive on campus
Upon your arrival to campus you will need to register your
system with UAM. This is an automated process, when you plug your
system in at your resident hall you will be required to supply the
following information:
-
UAM email username (used to check email and to register your
system on the network)
-
UAM password
Your system will undergo another scan to ensure you still meet UAM
security policies. If you register successfully and pass the
security process you will be admitted to the network.
What to do if you can't get connected
-
If you are unable to get to the registration screen using the
wired connection in your resident hall room, you will need to
enter a work order with the Department of Information Technology
at 460-1036. IT will send a technician over to inspect the
cabling in your residence.
-
If you can get to the registration page, but cannot remember
your username or password to register with, you will need to
call the Department of Information Technology at 460-1036. Ask
for assistance with your username/password.
-
If you register successfully, but cannot pass the scan, then you
need to follow the instructions within the system. This will
give you information on why your system is failing the security
scan. The most common problem is out of date operating system.
Go to Microsoft
Updates if this is the case.
