Masters of Arts in Teaching Program Information |
|
Thank you for your interest in the Master of Arts in Teaching program at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. The program was designed to allow individuals with bachelor’s degrees in something other than education the opportunity to pursue a teaching licensure and a master’s degree concurrently. In June candidates take six hours on-line. All candidates will come to campus for a two week seminar in July. We arrange for inexpensive housing during that time for candidates that have to travel for a long distance. At this time, the program allows candidates to seek licensure in Middle Childhood grades 4-8, Secondary grades 7-12, Physical Education, Art, and Music K-12. To be admitted to the program candidates must have a 2.70 GPA overall or a 3.0 GPA in the last 60 hours of their degree. Additionally, candidates must meet all pre-requisites for the licensure level they are seeking. To see the pre-requisites and program of study please click on the licensure level below. All candidates must take and pass the Praxis I Reading, Writing, and Math and the Praxis II Specialty exam in their content area to be admitted to the program. Candidates are not required to pass the Principles of Learning and Teaching or the Pedagogy exam for admission to the program. |
