MONTICELLO – University of Arkansas at Monticello women’s basketball coach Chris Ratcliff has announced the signing of North Little Rock native Chasity Seale as the first addition of the late signing period to the 2009-10 squad.
“Since we are losing one of the best defensive players in the country in Andrea Dubose, defense was our primary need at this point,” said Ratcliff. “Chasity brings that to the floor every time out. Not only is she a good defensive player, she is a very good shooter… Coming from a great high school program at North Little Rock, I know she is going to be focused on winning.”
At North Little Rock High School, Seale is a two-time 7A-Central All-Conference selection (2008-09) with an honorable mention selection in 2007. Most recently, she was selected to the 2009 7A All-State and All-State Tournament teams, the All-Metro team and selected to participate in the Arkansas All-Star game.
Seale guided NLR to three conference championships and three state tournament appearances, culminated with a runner-up finish in 2009.
During the runner-up campaign, she posted an average of 13.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 48 percent from the field, 41 percent from three-point range and 83 percent from the foul line.
Throughout her high school career, NLR posted a 73-11 overall record and a 40-2 record in the 7A-Central.
Along with her all-conference honor in 2008, she was also named the North Little Rock Defensive Player of the Year.
NLR coach Daryl Fimple gave Seale’s choice of UAM a ringing endorsement. “This is the biggest steal in Arkansas… She is a wonderful young lady and I think UAM fans are really going to like her.”
