MONTICELLO – Senior Andrea Dubose racked
up 11 steals in a 103-73 win over Lane College, breaking
the school’s all-time single-game record.
Dubose (Hickory,
Miss.) waited until the last minute of the game to
record her 11th steal, just 30 seconds after recording
the record-tying takeaway. She also finished the game
with 18 points, shooting 6-of-14 from the field,
including three three-pointers. She added four rebounds
and six assists to her game totals.
All five of UAM’s starters
finished the game in double-digits, led by junior
Nicole Lowe (Jackson, Miss.) with 20 points. Lowe
connected on a game-high 8-of-12 field goal attempts,
while adding six assists and four steals to her totals.
Sophomore Erika Brown
(Shreveport, La.) turned in her first double-double
of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds, while
freshman teammate Jerica Hubard (Ashdown, Ark.)
also tallied a double-double with 11 points and 10
rebounds.
Senior Addie Lees
(Plainview, Texas) rounded out the double-digit scorers
with 10 points.
More than half of UAM’s
points came from the paint. The Blossoms racked up 54
points down low, while the Lady Dragons could only
muster 24 points in the paint.
The Blossoms keep their
undefeated record intact, improving to 5-0, marking the
best undefeated start since the 1997-98 squad won its
first five games to start the season. Lane drops to 3-2
overall.
The Blossoms have now
scored at least 90 points in four of the give games so
far this season.
UAM hosts their second
tournament of the season starting Friday, December 5
with the Holiday Inn Express Classic to be played at
Steelman Fieldhouse.
On Friday, Southern
Arkansas will battle Tougaloo at 5:30 p.m., followed by
UAM and St. Mary’s (Texas) facing off at 7:30 p.m. On
Saturday, Southern Arkansas at St. Mary’s play at noon,
followed by the final game of the classic with UAM and
Tougaloo playing at 2 p.m.
