BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of Arkansas
at Monticello senior volleyball player Sara
Kindred has been named the Gulf South Conference
West Division Defensive Player of the Week.
The following is a portion of the weekly release
from the GSC office:
Arkansas-Monticello
outside hitter Sara Kindred (Sr., 5-10, Frisco,
Texas) is the GSC West Division Defensive Player
of the Week. Kindred played solid defensively
during a 2-0 week for the Cotton Blossoms,
putting UAM in second place in the West. The
senior had 45 digs during that span, averaging
five digs per set. Kindred had at least 20 digs
per match, including 23 in a 3-1 win over
Henderson State. She also added three blocks for
Arkansas-Monticello.
In 25 matches this season, Kindred has
racked up a total of 243 digs, averaging out to
3.12 per set. She has also been a threat on
offense with a total of 182 kills and 11 service
aces.
Arkansas Tech’s Sarah Von Lienen was named GSC-West
Offensive Player of the Week for the third
consecutive time, while West Florida’s Patricia
Gandolfo and Valdosta State’s Irene Hannan were
named GSC-East Offensive and Defensive Players
of the Week, respectively.
Kindred and the rest of the Cotton Blossoms take
the court tonight, hosting Southern Arkansas
University inside Steelman Field House. Opening
serve is set for 7 p.m.
