RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. –
Arkansas Tech University had
446 passing yards and 519
yards of total offense in a
59-14 win over the
University of Arkansas at
Monticello football team
Saturday night at Thone
Stadium.
Tech (3-1, 1-1 GSC) was led
by senior quarterback Nick
Graziano, who completed 33
of 49 passes for 403 yards
with five touchdown passes.
Graziano also carried the
ball seven times for 21
yards, including a 25-yard
touchdown run in the third
quarter to put Tech up 42-7.
Graziano hooked up with
senior receiver Frantz
Simeon 10 times for 165
yards, including two
touchdown tosses. Simeon
also had two punt returns
for 61 yards and two kickoff
returns for 81 yards.
UAM (1-4, 0-2 GSC) was led
by junior quarterback Scott
Buisson, who completed 15 of
35 passes for 264 yards with
two interceptions and
highlighted the rushing
stats with 12 carries for
106 yards with UAM’s only
two touchdowns of the game.
Buisson’s first touchdown
run came with a 31-yard
scamper in the second
quarter to make the score
21-7 in favor of the Wonder
Boys. Buisson turned in his
second rushing score with a
44-yard run in the fourth
quarter to make the score
49-14.
Buisson’s rushing total
marked the first time a UAM
ball carrier reached the
century mark since Buisson
had 165 rushing yards in the
2008 loss to North Alabama.
His first rushing touchdown
of the game was the first
for the Boll Weevils in the
2009 season.
Buisson’s favorite target
was junior Jywin Ceaser, who
had five catches for 99
yards. Junior Joseph
Lockwood had three catches
for 88 yards.
UAM continues Gulf South
Conference play next
Saturday, October 3 at home
against Ouachita Baptist.
